APDAS Radiation Safety for Dental Assistants
This six-hour Radiation Safety course is designed to train dental staff on safety techniques regarding x-rays and equipment. All subject categories required by the Georgia Department of Community Health Rules and Regulations for X-Ray regarding the training of individuals operating radiation machines will be covered, including:

- Protective Clothing
- Patient Holding
- Time, Distance, Shielding
- Radiation Protection Standards
- Dark Room Techniques
- Developing Chemicals
- Film Protection
- Cassettes
- Screens
- Patient Protection
- Beam Limitation
- Setting up Techniques
- Biological Effects of Radiation
- Machine Safety

- Recognizing Problems
Course outline
This 8 hour Hands on program includes:
- Introduction to dental X-ray
- Radiation safety
- Producing diagnostic dental radiograph
- XCP setup and X-Ray placement
- Hands on training
Participants will receive a Georgia Radiology Certificate upon successful completion of the program.
