Making major career changes at any stage of life is a huge undertaking. In fact, a career change is one of the five most stressful life changes. It’s right up there with divorce, death, and moving!

Take Stock of Your Situation

Let’s talk about all the different ways to approach this major decision.

Make a List. Have you put serious thought into what you really want to do? Now is the time to make a list. When are you at your best? What motivates you to achieve more? What segment of the population would you most like to work with? Is there an industry you are most interested in?

What if it wasn’t about the money? Is there something that makes you so happy that you’d do it for free? I know, I know. We all have bills to pay and we will get to that, but is there something that you absolutely enjoy doing? Ask yourself, what about that specific hobby is so captivating? Is there a way to find that in an existing industry?

For example: If you are naturally good at making children smile, you don’t have to go back to school to become a Kindergarten teacher. There are a number of things you could do. You could work in the pediatric dental assisting field. We offer a great program that will have you trained and ready to work in just nine weeks!
