5 Signs It’s Time for a New Career

Spoiler alert: We believe that pediatric dental assisting is an exciting, fulfilling, and enriching career choice!

Of course, we’re a little biased, considering we’re a school for pediatric dental assistants—but maybe it’s time for you to think about a career change! There are plenty of people who worked dead-end, boring jobs for years before they finally decided it’s time to make a change.

We want to help you decide if the time is right for a new career, so here are five signs that the time for a change is now!

1) You Hate Your JobPediatric Dental Assistant School Job Dissatisfaction

Guess what? If you dread going to work every day, you’re either going to stay miserable, or you’re going to have to make a change. Whether you need a new career depends on why you’re dissatisfied. If it’s not just an annoying boss but boredom or frustration with the work itself, then that’s a strong reason to find something else.

2) You’re Eying Other Opportunities

If you were satisfied in your career, you wouldn’t devote time to other prospects or possibilities. You might pay the bills with your current job, but you also want something that’s challenging and interesting. If you always feel a strong temptation to look for another type of work, that’s a sign that you probably should.

3) You Need a Better Fit

You have a certain set of skills and preferences. A little bit of discomfort and uncertainty on the job can be good, because it means you’re being exposed to new things and broadening your horizons. On the other hand, too much discomfort can lead to a feeling that you’re not utilizing your gifts and talents.

4) You Want Better Pay

Even if you happen to love your job, you still need to make a comfortable living. If you feel like you don’t earn enough money, or if you feel like your skills aren’t being rewarded, then it makes a lot of sense to think about a new career option. Like we mentioned last week, a pediatric dental assistant can make $18 per hour or more!

5) You Have a Burning Desire

Go after whatever lights your fire and gets you excited. If that’s your current career, then great! But if it’s not, don’t let yourself stay in a place that’s unfulfilling and unrewarding. Get excited about a new path and new opportunities for your life. You can make it happen with a strategic career change.

What’s Next?

If you think it’s time to make that change in your career, I hope you’ll look into pediatric dental assisting. It’s a growingfield with great pay and the chance to make a real difference in children’s lives!
