5 Reasons You Should be a Pediatric Dental Assistant

My name is Dr. Rhea Haugseth and I’m the owner of the Atlanta Pediatric Dental Assistant School in Marietta, GA. I’m excited to have the opportunity to tell you all about Pediatric Dental Assisting and why it is a career that you will love!

Maybe you are feeling stuck in life with a job that isn’t going anywhere or don’t have a job at all right now. If you are lacking the income you deserve or are working in a dead-end job that isn’t rewarding, your future can look pretty bleak.

As an employee, it is important to feel productive, needed, and fulfilled. If you aren’t satisfied with your current situation, here are 5 reasons to consider Pediatric Dental Assisting!

  1. Smiles, Giggles, Fun

Pediatric Dental Assisting is VERY different from regular dental assisting. Our job is challenging, but the rewards are INCREDIBLE!

Working with children and teens means that we have fun while we work – they bring it out in us!

We get lots of hugs, smiles, and giggles every day!

  1. Growth and Demand

Not all jobs are in demand, let alone with opportunities for growth.

The need for Dental Assistants is expected to grow by 31% by 2030. Pediatric Dental Assistants are going to be even more in demand because medical research is showing that oral health is linked to general health. Preventative care is becoming more necessary as we learn more about this connection.

Job placement out of our training program is 93% and the experience and knowledge you’ll gain from being clinically trained will make sure that you can grow in the field! Well-trained and experienced Pediatric Dental Assistants are always in high demand.

  1. Extensive, Targeted Experience

Other dental assistant schools attempt to teach all aspects of being a general Dental assistant, such as oral surgery, crowns and bridges, dentures, implants, and root canals.

At our school, we focus on pediatric dentistry only! Not only that, but Pediatric Dental Assistants receive training in how to allay children’s fears. That way, we can calm kids’ fears about dentists and instead make the visit a fun and positive experience.

Most dentists prefer to hire experienced dental assistants who have completed a dental-assisting course and have training and certification from a reputable program.

  1. Dependability

Pediatric Dental Assisting is a dependable job with set hours. It can be full or part time – 2 in 5 pediatric dental assistants are part-time.

Even better, it’s a daytime job. If you’re a mother of school-aged children, this is a huge plus!

Making a decent living at a dependable job means you can help provide a nice home, pay your bills, drive a good car, and make healthy and nutritious meals for family. You might even be able to afford a vacation!

  1. Respect!

Your family, friends, and colleagues will all respect you and your choice of career. Helping children and their families be healthy and cavity-free gives you a wonderful sense of accomplishment.

Beyond that, you’ll also be respected by the parents of our patients and the doctor you are working for.

This job isn’t just rewarding, it’s important!

You deserve a career like this. If you are in the Atlanta area, don’t hesitate to contact us for information on class schedules and your future career!
